PADRE VALENTINO R.I.P.

 

Last year my good friend Padre Valentino died. He  did a lot of good work in Roncesvalles. Thank you.

Artieda Bus transports pilgrims from Pamplona to Roncesvalles

The bus service always operates, snow or no snow, but not on Sundays or  on National Holidays. At Roncesvalles they now operate from a NEW BUS STOP, on the right side of the main road, behind the Posada hotel. There is a sign on the parking lot.

Padre Valentino leads pilgrims through unknown parts of the church.

On March 9, 2023 Padre Valentino asked me to read a part of the Bible
during the Pilgrim Mass in Roncesvalles. While sitting on a chair on the altar
I took this picture. Only 6 pilgrims were present, some from Corfu.

ABOUT TRAVEL IN SPAIN / PORTUGAL:

I visited both countries (as usual) in December and February. All trains were delayed, but there was always a PLAN B. Travellers were transported by bus or even BY TAXI.  Sometimes trains even broke down, including the AVE.   You will get there but take your time! Andalucía was  very bad: no trains at all.

N.B. It is unlikely that you will receive a refund for delayed travel by RENFE for tickets bought after 31/1/26. (Have a look under "Manage your ticket"/ on the top of the Renfe.es page).
